Billed as Chile’s closest thing to a supergroup, Los Mono is essentially a collaboration between some of the country’s finest musicians, producers and rappers.

Cristian Moraga, aka Funky C and founder of Los Tetas is firmly on board with this project.

He’s joined by the outraegously talented Sebastian Silva (member of CHC), Gonzalo Gonzalez (sound engineer for Los Tres, Los Prisioneros and Los Bunkers) and Vicente Sanfuentes, who are part of the duo The Hermanos Brothers won MTV Latin America’s Best Independent Artist award.

Sometimes when presented with such an array of talents, it’s easy for the individuals to get lost and the sound to be over-produced.

This is not the case with Somos Los Que Estamos - a full on high-energy blast from start to finish.

There are infectious bleeps and beats, catchy melodies and funk-fueled inspiration.

There are intelligent lyrics, even more intricate wordplays, and a blend of future musical styles with the musical heritage of the country the group is representing.

Los Mono’s title as a supergroup is well deserved. Let’s hope they’ll be touring near us soon.
