Following on from the Mr. Bongo/Bottletop CD, Sound Affects: Africa album, this is the summery remix.

The track ‘Segunda Feira’ is ideal if you’re head is half way between the recently released Irma compilation, Sambass 4 and the Future Loop Foundaton’s string soaked chill. Top marks to Brazilian Drum’n’Bass DJ and producer Bungle (aka Andre Oliveira) for keeping in the dreamy sythns, flute and guitars with the manic pace of the d’n’b beats. The original version can be found on Bazeado’s Requebra Nega album.

You’ll recall Nu:Tone (aka Dan Gresham) was responsible for the best remix of Phuturistix’s ‘Beautiful’ of a few years ago and he’s come up with the goods on this release with ‘Nebulosa’. This track is an old Mr. Bongo fav that turned up last year on Paz E Futebol. Nu:Tone is an ideal choice with his piano background as it gets a Hospital Records treatment. Harder than Bungle’s side on both bass and bongos and then, at the same time, keeping the melody of that jazzy Ital piano makes the track work on all levels.

Two excellent tracks as you would expect withe the expertise of Mr. Bongo records in the area of Brazilian Beats N’ Pieces.

If you’ve not come across Bottletop before, they are a charity that works supporting health education around the world is well respected and they can atract some heavyweight suspects on the remix like Quantic, Oakenfold and Radio Slave.

I’m struggling to make my mind up which of the two I prefer best but both are winners on the dancefloor.
