Courtney Pine Wins Best Jazz Act - 2005 Urban Music Award |

Other winners included Roni Size for Best Drum n Bass act, Jamelia, Best R&B and Maxi Priest who was voted Best Reggae act. Courtney will be playing two shows at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the BBC Radio 3 London Jazz Festival later this month. Performing music from the new album, in additional to the evening show, he will also present a family set during the day which opens with a special screening of his animated film Jazzdaze. His UK tour continues through November, December and in to February 06 and the band will also be at Virgin Megastore, Oxford Street for a special signing session and in-store performance on November 16th. Courtney’s popular Radio 2 show Jazz Crusade will be back on air in January. He will also be composing the music to Paul Robeson’s groundbreaking film, ‘Borderline’, which is re-released as part of the Arts Council’s Necessary Journey’s initiative, celebrating the history of black film making Courtney Pine’s new album Resistance — out now on V2 Nurture. |
