Winners include African pop sensation, Amadou & Mariam, who walk away with two awards this year (Best Album and the Africa award), Ry Cooder, Nitin Sawhney and the astounding Konono No 1 from the Congo. The winners are:

Many of the above artists will be appearing at the Poll Winners’ Concert at Brixton Academy on Friday 7th April. The evening will be presented by Hugh Masekela and BBC Radio 3’s Fiona Talkington and Verity Sharp. One final award, the Audience Award, voted for by listeners to BBC Radio 3 and the BBC World Service plus viewers of BBC 4, will be announced on the night of the Awards.

BBC Radio 3 will broadcast the concert on Monday 10th April at 7.30pm. Highlights of the concert will be broadcast on BBC 4 on Saturday 8th April (tbc). A compilation CD is released on Union Square Music on Monday 27th March.
