IFE-ILE Afro-Cuban Dance Festival - Miami, July 13-16, '06

Afro-Cuban dance & drumming workshops, performances, and outdoor & beach parties with DJ Melao spinning Cuban timba, live music with rhythms of Miami’s top rumberos

IFE-ILE dancersIFE-ILE’s 7th annual Afro-Cuban Dance Festival offers more than Afro-Cuban dance and drum workshops and events. In Miami, Cuban and other African, Caribbean and Latin American cultures thrive and pulse in the neighborhoods. Culture is in the everyday here and now, and not something you will find just in the workshops.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Opening Performance at Habana 1900 by IFE-ILE Afro-Cuban Dance & Music Ensemble: Rumba, Comparsa, Son and More, along with dance competition
19 Dance and Drum Workshops Taught by Local & Visiting Master Artists (Afro-Cuban Rumba, Timba, Orisha, Son, Casino Rueda, Congo, Arara, Samba, West African and Bata Drumming)
The Gala will highlight Son, the sensual style of dance that originated in Cuba and evolved into Mambo (Dance on 2) during NYC’s Palladium era.
Dance Parties: Dance under the stars to the hottest timba with live music from Rolando y su Dan-Den as well as DJ Melao; or the freshest, soulful rumba by Miami’s top rumberos
Experience Miami beyond the Tourist Brochures with a Cultural Heritage Tour of Miami’s Ethnic Neighborhoods
Free Panel Discussions with Experts on Afro-Cuban Culture Marketplace with Afro-Cuban/Caribbean Arts and Crafts as well as Dance Items

Venue: Arts & Mind Center, 3138 Commodore Plaza
(1 block away from Cocowalk)
