Those with long memories will recall Keith made an appearance on Guru ‘s Jazzmatazz Vol. 2 and in 1996 (the seminal) Mo’Wax released Dr. Octagon’s Dr. Octagonecologyst produced by Dan The Automator Nakamura; scratches by no less than DJ Q-Bert!

So it has been a long time and we welcome the return of Dr. Octagon and his new production trio, One Watt Sun collective (consisting of John, Ben and Simon).

These aliens are a weird lot as we start off quite normally until the whole joint blows into the last spaceship-to-hop Skaville. Drop your inhibitions and have some fun, see the video CLICK HERE.

If you’re not into the sci-fi theme but like bouncing around to the hot step of The Destroyers, the instrumental is the version for you as it’s fast! I love the cornet battle with the DJ scratches.

Early fans of the new single are Radio 1’s media crowned Queen of Dubstep and host of ‘The Breezeblock’ Mary Ann Hobbs (who picked it as single of the week a few weeks ago) and Andy ‘the best drum’n’bass DJ on the planet’ C who included the Sub Focus Remix on his compilation Nightlife 3.

Sub Focus is signed to Andy C’s Ramm Records and is very much the protégé. He’s already had hits with his own tracks ‘Acid Test’ and ‘X-Ray’ with his latest 12”; ‘Airplane/Flamenco’ is set to follow. Unlike the original of ‘Aliens’, his d’n’b remix races off from the start and just keeps going.

The single is from the forthcoming album The Return Of Dr.Octagon and if it’s as imaginative as ‘Alien’ it should be a good one.
