Mia Doi Todd - 'Sleepless Nights' |

Long time collaborator with Daedelus, Adventure Time and the west coast Plug Research/Dub Lab communities, Mia Doi Todd’s latest single turns up on Kindred Spirit enforcing thier links after they released last years’ Album Of The Year from Build An Ark, Dawn. Simple acoustic guitar with string arrangements gives ‘Sleepless Nights’ a dreamy sixties ambiance to the song. This is acoustic modal folk at its best but when you hear ‘Night Of A Thousand Kisses’, those tears that kept you awake at night really begin to flow. The new album GEA comes out March 4th on City Zen Records in the US and she’s on an extensive tour in Feb 29-March 31 opening for José González. So we won’t get to see her until at least April but Kindred Spirits will be releasing the album over here on the 14th March. In the meantime, check her MySpace for some sneak previews and catch up with the back catalogue like Manzantia and Golden State. That said, I’m thinking GEA is her best work to-date. Stunning listening album by Mia Doi Todd. I’m a huge folk fan and the new folk movements by such artists are really quite superb. Late night music for me and maybe you, do give it special attention. Production by Carlos Nino, say no more.
