Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. When you need to build a barrier between your mind and the rest of the world, block yourself from the reality that is called the human existence, fall into a trance-like state - you will turn to Nommo Ogo and their latest release Across Time And Space. Across Time And Space is the kind of music that you might want to listen to while reading horror stories in a bus, to keep the other passengers out of your head. This, at least, is how this particular music works best for me. Otherwise, there is a high chance that the music might get me irritated and anxious. It might make me feel like I have to fly to Alaska, buy a spear, head towards the wilderness, and risk my life hunting down a polar bear while roaring like a cavewoman (assuming this is what they did back in the stone age). Maybe this is the point of Nommo Ogo’s work who say on their website that they “focus on the psychic effects of sonic manipulation; genre distinctions are less important to their vision than the evocation of extra-ordinary states of consciousness”. Across Time And Space was recorded between the winter of 2002 and the summer of 2006. Even if the band is nowadays based in California, the winter part is easy to believe: that cold feeling seems to be oozing from every track. Whether it is the influence of band’s origins in Alaska or the psychedelic ambience, this music has a certain Alaskan echo in it that makes you feel like you are standing alone in the middle of great white glacier. Indeed, the album evokes some strange sensations. But it also only opens up to those who are into this specific type of music.
