Tal M. Klein - Crawling Up The Spout |

We’ve not heard from Tal for a while after Plastic Starfish so as soon as I saw this new 12”, I was right on it. ‘Crawling Up The Spout’ is a groovy Afro-funk-disco guitar lead track with the ‘surprise’ sample by Tony Joe White, I’m no great fan of Mr. White, but I did hear an interview with him some time ago and I could listen to his gravelly voice all day. Tal’s used some vocal from ‘Stud-Spider’ as his inspiration here for some non-arachnophobia appreciation. On the remix front, Japan’s jet setter ALTZ weaves jazzy funk path that’s all over the place and it’s quite a grower with the disco blips and bleeps experimental house crew; one for loose joints this one. Kidgusto out of Washington DC likes a TrueGrooves break and there’s some more jazz-funk wobble by Zamali making this a real value for money 12”. The guys at Supperclub are making Alan ‘Jealousy’ Luna happy as Tal is book up for the San Francisco venue at the end of April (along with Ursula 1000 who was on Pathaan’s Supperclub Beauty album) and there seems lots of Tal vinyl action planned including a release of ‘Party Block Rocker’ (out this week on juno - see below) and a studio project with Anthony Mansfield!
