The Bonedaddys - Waterslide |

Led by percussionist Mike Tempo, The Bonedaddys put Los Angeles on the worldbeat music map in 1985 — with what many people think was the first US example of the genre. Literally, one of the co-creators of a whole major genre of music, The Bonedaddys are proud to announce a brash bouncing new album, with the impact of a landslide … called Waterslide. For The Bonedaddys, worldbeat has come full circle to include an expression of American roots music. As Mike Tempo explained to me, The Bonedaddys still take a “wide stance” stylistically, and claim influences ranging from Charles Ives to Burl Ives — with the common musical denominator being a big dance party ambiance. The songs on Waterslide feature soulful vocals by Kaspar Abbo and King Cotton (whose name, Tempo informs me, comes from Elvis Presley’s favorite bacon brand) and a twin guitar attack with saxophone propelled by bass, drums and percussion, including some exotic instruments that will take you on a musical journey from the dancehalls of Louisiana to the jungles of distant continents.
