You’ll recall they were the Life Force behind Dwight Trible’s ‘Equipoise’ and the album, Love Is The Answer and after a ‘preview’ 12” remix on Plug Research, I’ve been looking forward to getting their latest album. Living Room features regular collaborators Gaby Hernandes, Andres Renteria, Fabian Ammon (Ammoncontact) with Derf Reklaw, Dwight Trible and Jesse Sharps. Produced, recorded, arranged and mixed by Carlos Niño in his Echo Park living room of all places, this is at times lo-fi space hip hop and then again something far more complicated. As you’d expect, the Spaceways Radio theme is here with ‘Space Flowers’ and ‘Starship’. ‘Alice!’ and ‘Soul Mates’ (with Mr. Trible) are standout tracks but as it’s only just over half an hour long, it’s an album you can happily listen to again and again. Hectic Mix nomination: ‘Alice!’, ‘Soul Mates’ Reviewed: The Life Force Trio — Living Room (Plug Research) Cat. No. PLG 075 Release date: 2006 Links: |
