Thunderball - Cinescope

I tried to resist it, but if you play the first track on Thunderball’s Cinescope album The Road to Benares, you become dangerously close to sliding on a pair of mafia wife shades, something black preferably PVC, calling yourself Trinity or Blade and embarking on a Thelma and Louise road trip.

Thunderball - Cinescope

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

Volume helps, as does imagination but even if stuck on an overnight coach to Doncaster, Thunderball’s cinematically dirty drumlines, woven together with its soulful melody, will break the rules for you. You just need to listen and I defy you not to jig a little.

‘Return of the Panther’ comes swaggering in all jazz and funk, get ready for this track as it’ll give you that Lynx effect. Riding through these twelve pieces, Cinescope joins forces with cool cats Mustafa Akbar, Miss Johnna M and MC’s Roots and Zeebo to create a diverse soundscape featuring everything from Brazilian beats to down-time reggae.

‘Get Up With the Get Down’ confirms that this is a nocturnal album that will put the disco, the lock, the stock and both those smoking barrels back in to your step. And when all is said and done, the ‘Last Flight Out’ will rock you into a sweet sleep, long and lounging and out of that PVC.
