Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. After the excellent Danny Kravit 718 Sessions and Frankie Knuckles >Motivation Too, Mind Control (aka Peter Bailey and Richie Santana) have compiled a double CD mix that’s Addicted. Whilst these two might not be household names outside of the 5 Boroughs, regulars at Miami’s Winter Music Conference and clubs on the isle of Ibiza will know that they are experts in body moving DJ sets of tech house which they have been tuning at their monthly residency at Pacha NYC since 2006. So not only have they incorporated tracks by our Great Stuff Recording favourites Lützenkirchen and a Butch remix (he of Papillon), as DJ/Produces themselves they’ve got some unreleased originals and remixes plus obscurities to keep the party rockin’ all night long. The first CD, Hooked starts off a bit heavy but with Alex Celler’s ‘Dancer’ that ups the tempo and the next track, Celler’s ‘La Palma’ the session gets into a grove for fans of Rise Ashen/Stephane Lefrancois (as in The Venenosa EP) and Francisco Allendes & Felipe Venegas (al a Espiritu)[ the mix really gets started with Santana’s own ‘Deep Jungle’ and keeps going right up to the end. The mixing throughout is excellently choreographed, particularly on the second disc, sub-titled Fixated. And this one starts heavily percussive on the ‘Tech Beat’ of Supernova and Bailey’s Mindcontrolled Mix of ‘Shaman’ from the tribal rhythm of D-Unity (get ya congas out). The second D-Unity track, ‘Arfika’ is even better with its space-waves and whilst we want Tobias Lützenkirchen to keep doing what he does best, the prolific DJ/Producer did seem to stretch himself a little too much a while ago but the ‘Munich Clubbing Supreme’ track last year did see him bang into form: great to see how New York meets Munich in the afterhours. There’s a healthy amount of Bailey/Santana solo and collaboration works, especially like the warped ping-pong of ‘Waakt Owt’, the hypnotic-express train of ‘Oh Me’ and ‘Hives’ - I think I’m getting the hang of Mind Control. So if you’re continuous ‘Music Behavior’ appreciation extends to house, progressive-house, tribal, iberican, deko lounge and the like, this is an essential choice; otherwise throw your hands up and dance to the fixation, you’ll soon be hooked on the addiction of Mind Control.
