Waajeed & The Bling 47 Group - The War LP

War, what is it good for? Music, perhaps. Waajeed of Platinum Pied Pipers delivers a sombre long player

The idea for this album started out as Waajeed compilation of Bling 47 productions. As time progressed, with the tragic loss of Jay Dee and other close friends of Waajeed and Bling 47, together with the continuing George W problem, the project took on a more sombre and reflective angle.

No album called The War LP is going to be a bundle of laughs. That said, this is still very Detroit with the key Triple P crew again in assistance plus a couple of Dilla beats.

Any track with Tiombe Lockhart is going to be special so take that for granted, ditto Dilla and the much sought after Waajeed classic, BPM Instrumenals, ‘Tron’.

‘The Overtaking’ and ‘Bombs Away’ set the battle zone tone for darker and dangerous times. It’s about time a US hip hop project caught up with what’s been going on in the UK, you might think ‘Place Where We Dwell’ could have come outta Manchester. Like, ‘Dusk’ is an American ‘March’ but then ‘Fire’, ‘Proud’ and ‘Busta’ hark back to the Vietnam anti-war times.

Certainly enough for old-skool fans with tracks like ‘Make Doe’ and ‘LL’, the bedroom beats of ‘The Dragon’ and the warning of ‘Pick Your Poison’.

The album comes as a double CD with an unmixed version and a bonus Waajeed mixed disc.

Hectic Mix nomination: ‘Bombs Away’, ‘Get Live’, ‘Place Where We Dwell’, ‘Act Like You Know’, ‘Garage Band’, ‘Fire’, ‘Proud’ and ‘Busta’
