Radio 1′s Gilles Peterson played a track this week from the fifth Os Ipanemas album on Far Out Recordings and although it’s a busy week, these new recordings from “the original Afro-Brazilian Kings” have rarely sounded better.
It’s here at long last! The World Cup coincides with the return of the much missed Mr Bongo label with a fantastic Brazilian football themed compilation – let the drums ring out.

We’ve got Leo Gandleman to thank for this as it was his foresight to make the call to his musician chums in 1999 to record some Brazilian inspired boogie as the Brazilian Groove Band as they got down to explore the Anatomy Of Groove.
I can’t believe the original New Morning was released back early last year as it still sounds fresh as a ‘new moring’ so what’s with the Deluxe Edition re-issue? We’ll it’s lots more than a new sleeve, DON’T over look this one!
